Oral microbiota associated with IgA antibodies in the development of lupus.

It has been described that intestinal IgA is found preferentially coating different types of bacteria that, under certain conditions, are capable of triggering pathogenic processes (pathobionts). In our laboratory, we study these IgA-bacteria conjugates at the oral level by means of massive sequencing, to determine potential contributions of dysbiosis in this cavity, with particular interest in patients with lupus.
